Photographs taken by R. Magnus (credit emboss at lower right.) Reverse of both are blank. Both prints have modern (ballpoint) ink notations in lower border and giving a date of 1933. (The photos are not otherwise dated.) Photo 1, full image: lower margin note: Trolley entrance at River Place station looking west to Observer Highway 1933. [cataloger's note: River Place is not an official place name used in Hoboken.] Observer Highway was called Ferry Street at that time. The tracks are adjacent to a fence, left, that separates them from the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad train platforms. The railroad's Records Building is seen along with another in the distance, the Railway Express Agency, which was also the D.L.&W. freight building in this train yard. The structure to the right is part of the two-level terminal of Public Service Coordinated Transport. Car 952 is seen just east of point where Hudson and Ferry Streets meet. The same area, looking in the opposite direction. Car 952 is not present here. The tracks lead to the lower level of the streetcar terminal. The wall at the right separated the tracks from the D.L.&W. train platforms (and as of 2012, this wall looks the same.) This photo is from an accession group that consists of photographs from Hoboken Police Department records. Discarded in the 1990s, the original documentary purpose of this photo is not stated or apparent.
