Photograph
Sepia tone photo of the northeast corner of Willow Avenue at Ferry Street with stairway to elevated streetcar station, Hoboken, no date, circa 1932-1938.
8" x 10" high print. Photographer not indicated. Reverse is blank.
Observer Highway was called Ferry Street at that time.
The buildings in the background on the other side of Ferry Street were part of the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad yard, the taller one being a freight warehouse. The arrangement of a short building with a taller one next to it corresponds to this intersection of Willow and Ferry.
Street level streetcar tracks are seen below the elevated tracks of Public Service Coordinated Transport. They went to the terminal on Hudson Place.
While undated, the date range is suggested by the materials in this accession. This photo is from an accession group that consists of photographs from Hoboken Police Department records. Discarded in the 1990s, the original documentary purpose of this photo is not stated or apparent.
