Reference file with materials relating to Bob Anthony, Hoboken native and longtime resident; nightclub singer, actor and known association with Frank Sinatra. Born Robert Anthony Roederer (1915-1986), he performed as Bob Anthony or Robert Anthony. The press clippings (numbers 7 to 12 below) provide some background on his career and friendship with Sinatra. (In notes is his 1986 Associated Press obituary for reference, it was not part of this group.)

Nightclub singer Bob Anthony
LEONIA, N.J. (AP) - Bob Anthony, the nightclub singer who took Frank Sinatra's place when Sinatra left the Tommy Dorsey Band, has died of cancer at age 71. Anthony, who died at home Wednesday, also sang with Harry James and Eddie Duchin and toured with Bob Hope's USO shows during World War II and the Korean War. Raised in Sinatra's hometown of Hoboken, Anthony, whose real name was Robert Anthony Roederer, was a long-time friend of Sinatra's. He appeared in the Broadway musical "Pal Joey" and, with Sinatra, in "Johnny Concho." Most recently, he worked as a columnist for the Sporting News. Anthony is survived by his wife, Beatrice, and three sons.
