Sepia-tone group photo of family posed on outside on back steps, Hoboken?, no date, circa 1895-1905.
7-1/4" high x 9" wide print on photographer's mount, 11" high x 10-3/4' wide (width roughly trimmed - original board was probably 13" to 14" wide). Photograph taken by William Manewal, 520 Washington St., Hoboken (inkstamped on reverse.) People are not identified.
An uncommon exterior group photo and probably taken in Hoboken, but it cannot be definitely stated. An older man holds young girl on his lap with a woman seated below to his left; seated at the left is a younger woman holding a baby who appears a year or less old.
The inkstamp on the back:
Wm. Manewal,
Photo Artist,
520 Washington Street,
Bet. 5th & 6th Sts., Hoboken, N.J.
Manewal was listed as a photographer at 307 Hudson St. in 1894 which also was stated as his home. The 520 Washington address was known to have been used by him later in the decade. Note that the inkstamp address specifies between Fifth and Sixth streets which is an out of date reference to the 1892 change in street numbers.
