On June 23, 1958, Engine Pumper # 4 was transferred to the quarters of Engine Company #3. All personnel assigned to Engine company # 4 have been temporarily transferred to other companies throughout the city. The transfer of apparatus and personnel was necessary because of a major breakdown of Engine Pumper # 3, which is now undergoing repairs. The apparatus is an eighty-five fast quick raising aerial ladder, tractor type truck. The Aerial ladder is powered by com-pressed air. It was built and purchased from the Ahrens-Fox Fire, Engine Company of Cincinnatti, Ohio, and placed in service in 1932. Truck No. 3. is equipped with a life net, life lines, various cellar and ladder pipes, portable fire extinguishers, self contained and canister type masks, forcible entry tools and salvage tarpaulins. This apparatus responds to all alarms of fire and in addition to the above equipment, it is equipped with such emergency tools as a power saw, power drill, acetylene burning unit and a Yates Appliance Polly for the removal of refrigerators. On October 30, 1958, it was necessary to place Truck No. 3 out of service for major repairs. The Civil Defense Emergency Rescue Truck is being utilised in its place, carrying all the necessary tools and equipment ordinarily assigned to Truck No. 3.
