Printed leaves, incomplete (lacking rear cover and pp. [3-4]), 10-3/4" wide x 14-1/8" high. One other music leaf present; smaller sheet; content unrelated to the Appel work.
Decorated front cover has the dedication and a photo in uniform of Charles A. Donovan who was Chief of the Hoboken Police Department at that time. Virtually nothing is known about composer Appel, at least as far as web resources. His relationship to Donovan is unknown.
Page [1]: Copyright, MCM, Howley, Haviland & Co. English Copyright Secured. (The reason for variance between the publisher's name on the cover and for the copyright is not known. Company dissolved in 1906 with the death of Paul Dresser.) A large "5" appears on the cover above Appel's name which may be the publisher's catalog number.
A publication date of 1902 is found in web resources for this title, but that date is not seen on the item. The bottom of page [1] has promotional text for "Pysche" Waltz by Fred. Spencer and the bottom of page [2] has The Merri Waltzes by Theo. [Theodore] F. Morse. Inside front cover promotes "haidee" by William Loraine.
