Photograph
Sepia tone photo of the North German Lloyd Steamship Company entry gates to Pier No. 1, Bremen Pier, River Street north of Third Street, Hoboken, no date, circa 1890s.
Print 5-7/8" high x 8" wide. Photographer not indicated or established.
View is north east of the metal fencing and gates with signs (including U.S. Mail).
At the left end, signage reads: N.G. Lloyd S.S. Co., Passenger Entrance. (N.G.L. was also referred to as the Bremen Line.) Although their Pier No. 1 was at Fourth Street, the entrance here is close to Third St. due to the Campbell Stores (a warehouse company) that fronted the east side of River up to Fourth St.
North German Lloyd was also called the Bremen Line. Telephone / telegraph poles; street light.
Print was found on leaf 2-1 in album 2013.053.0001, see that primary record for album description.
