The Erie Railroad began to operate several suburban and other passenger routes to and from Hoboken starting in 1956 while still maintaining selected routes to its Jersey City terminal. The combining of service at Lackawanna Terminal in Hoboken with the Delaware, Lackwanna & Western Railroad took place over four years starting in 1956 and culminated in the formal merger of the two railroads in October 1960 as the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad.
It would have been valid on Pullman service for an additional charge.
