Notes: archives 2012.004.0062 ==== Mayor's Office Lawrence Fagan, Mayor Hoboken, N.J. Nov. 3rd, 1900 To the Council. Gentlemen:- I here with return without my approval an ordinance providing for the purchase of a School House site, passed at a session of your Honorable Body held October 24th, 1900. My reason for so doing is that the ordinance is confined to one locality, the Third Ward, I do not understand why a special ordinance is passed for a school house site in the Third Ward while this ward has Public School No. 4, Public High School, Free Public Library and Industrial School, German Academy, Parochial School and just over its boarders is Public School No. 3, while the ward is but four blocks wide. The ordinance should be passed to include the entire lower section of the City so that the community will have an opportunity to bid on a school house site. Respectfully Yours, Lawrence Fagan, Mayor ---- Communication from his Honor Mayor Fagan returning the Ordinance for the purchase of a school house site.
