Ticket, transporation: Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad, Editorial 1000 Mile Ticket. Issued to Mr. D.F. Chadrayone (?), Advertising. Issued New York City, J[an?] 16, 1904 (validation stamp on back cover); good for travel through Dec. 31 1904. Form A. T. 2. [ticket] No. B 535.
Printed cardboard cover folio with black cambric hinge, 2-7/8" wide x 5" high, top opening; brass metal tear bar. With printed scrip, 2-1/2" wide x 5 feet, 9" long strip, fan-folded to circa 4-1/4" long (or high as tipped-in). The strip is perforated 5/8" from the right edge, but the use for it is not apparent.
While not issued in Hoboken, this ticket would have probably have been used by the owner in travel to or from Hoboken which served as the Eastern rail terminus for the D.L. & W.
The bearer was in Advertising as stated on the front cover, but the company name is rubbed off. His signature does appear on the inside of the folder.
The scrip was printed in miles marked with divisions at five mile points. The ticket number is imprinted within each five mile section; also includes the number of miles that were remaining to be used (e.g. at 330, 670 would appear as the remainder.) The mileage present starts at 320, thus the first 320 miles had been used for travel and thus not present as it was taken by conductors. The full length of the original accordion folded strip is estimated at 10 feet long.
