Notes: Notes written by Curran and sent to Museum collections along with the digital image files: Well it begins taking in my plants from the outside ledge. Hurricane Sunflowers is the photo 070, 071, also On that Monday afternoon, October 29, I took in my AC, soon after that I heard a snap outside and I looked out the window and the tree had falled right in the middle of the block. On First St. between Bloomfield and Garden. I think it was one of the first to fall, 051, 056 for city workers were soon there to take care of it. 092,093 is of the clean up after wards. Also on Nov1st, I went out to city hall and painted the Flag Still Standing 202 that is on top of old bank now Walgreens. I felt so guilty painting when all others were helping in the community.Friends of the museums told me to keep painting, you are doing service. I have two more images to send thanks Bill ---- August 22 For me the storm started on Monday Night Oct 29th. Seascape#169 I was painting on an oil painting and i just completed a part of water in a seascape, it was 915pm and i stood back and said i like that... all of a sudden the lights went out. I have a habit of ruining something after i like what i just did. So in a way it was a blessing that i could not touch it. so i lay down my paint brushes and what followed was one week of night living by candle light. The Storm reminded me of a blizzard except there was no snow, just black at night. It was very interesting thought to see folks walking down the street from my apt windows and casting these circular white shapes on the sidewalk from their flashlights as they strolled the evening in darkness. Also one night when i came home from St Peter and Paul's Church which i think never lost power , i stood on my front steps before retiring and i saw the stars on the corner of Bloomfield Street and First like i have never before. The sky was so dark blue and millions it seemed of stars were above my head. That was breathtaking. One week after Sandy, we had a Nor'easter, Tree,#185 oil on canvas, was done while nor'easter was belting snow and ice. I regret not shooting more photos, especially of City hall, with the Armed forces there. It was like MASH but just more intense. Rebuilding Hoboken#247, oil on canvas was painted on Garden street in the Spring. Folks were starting to repair what had been damaged from Sandy.
