Aftermath of this disastrous fire, which started June 30 and lasted for at least two days; photo probably taken during July or early August 1900.
View is northeast (from the roof of a River Street building) with Campbell Stores warehouse building in foreground (sign at left) ran from near Third Street to Fourth Street on the east side of River Street. Two piers of the North German Lloyd Steamship Co. are destroyed along with the headhouse. The steamship seen appears scarred by fire and smoke; it has not been identified.
