Sepia-tone photo of Cabaret Terminal, 72 Hudson St., with bunting, Hoboken, n.d., circa 1912-1914.
Photograph
Sepia-tone photograph of Cabaret Terminal exterior, 72 Hudson St., with bunting, Hoboken, no date, circa 1912-1914.
2-1/4" x 4" wide print. Photographer not indicated. Reverse has modern pencil: 416 Washington St.
Street view does not correspond with general views of the 400 block of Washington Street in this era and thus the modern attribution as 416 Washington is believed to be incorrect. The building edge at the left does correspond in architectural detail to 68-70 Hudson Street (see image with detail comparisons) and thus the address for Cabaret Terminal is tentatively attributed as 72 Hudson St.
Sign at right (at 74 Hudson St.): Branch. General School of Languages. Unterricht Im Englisch. [Teaching in English] Spanish. Italian. Translation.
The cabaret building at no. 72 was apparently replaced by a more modern apartment building (The Martha - later to become Hotel Edwards) not long after this photo was taken.
Print is from the files of United Decorating Co. of Hoboken who did bunting as seen in this photo, but it is unstated whether they did the work seen here.
