Exact street location not indicated except that on the date the card was mailed it was on Washington near Ninth Street; background has been removed from the image. It is presumed that the photograph was not taken at Ninth and Washington. Sender's text on reverse explains the image: "This ship is helping Uncle Sam win the war. It started at 14th St. and now is at 9th and Washington Str. It moves a block for every $300,000 and all together Hoboken must get $4,200,000. These are real sailors on the ship. Are you still saving your pennies for Uncle Sam?" It was addressed to a young boy who was 8 years old or younger (salutation is "Master.")
