Notes: Exhibition 2014: Hoboken, Ellis Island, and the Immigrant Experience, 1892-1924 ==== Preliminary research by Dr. Christina Ziegler-McPherson, 2014: I didn't find an immigration record for "Louris" entering in 1902 but a Demetrios Loures, born 1878, lived in the Lowell, MA area for many years. City directories for Lowell in the 1930s also list a Demetrios Louris who owned a restaurant. There is a reference to a passenger list from 1905 (that I can't view) that says a Demetrios Louris, born around 1879, arrived in Boston in 1905. Could be the same person (Greeks traveled back and forth a lot). http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?rank=1&new=1&MSAV=1&msT=1&gss=angs-g&gsfn=Demetrius&gsfn_x=NP_NN&gsln=Louris&gsln_x=XO&msady=1902&cpxt=0&catBucket=rstp&uidh=9d7&cp=0&pcat=ROOT_CATEGORY&h=700670&recoff=4+5&db=pili354&indiv=1&ml_rpos=1 The only entry I found for a Demetrios Lowis was from the 1930 Census with an obviously confused enumerator listing an 11 year old boy as a boarder living in Providence, Rhode Island. Clearly, not our 1902 traveler! Status: OK Status By: dw Status Date: 2014-06-11
