Turned hardwood, stained, with engraved metal band (aluminum?) wrapping completely around hammer head (gavel handle is inserted through band holding it on); 10" long with head 1-3/4" diameter x 3-1/4" wide. Maker's mark on band: Macoy, N.Y. Some small chips to hammer head. No other information about the person or event related to the Young Men's Christian Association is present.
