Booklet, 10-1/4" wide x 15-1/4" high, [32]pp plus printed cover. Eight 8" x 10" press photographs mounted to leaves. Other leaves blank. No captions or inscriptions.
PDF on file with photos in original condition (darkened with staining from rubber cement) and enhanced versions .
All 8 photos are black-and-white aerial views of the ocean liner arriving in New York Harbor.
F.C. Bouman was a Director of Holland-America Lines.
First photo was loose and had inkstamped credit on reverse for the Daily News newspaper, 220 East 42nd St., N.Y. City.
Provenance: Collection of Adriaan P.L. Roggeveen.
He was the former Operations Manager of Holland America operations in Hoboken, retiring in 1953 and living on the New Jersey coast. He was one of five generations of his family that had worked for Holland America in the U.S. and Holland.
Holland America Line had its American home port in Hoboken at the time of this publication which the passenger ship was going to dock. Its Fifth Street pier and Hoboken do not appear in any photos.
The S.S. Nieuw Amsterdam (2) was also known as S.S. New Amsterdam.
