Hoboken Public School, Testimonial of Merit given to John Frances Hildemann by Board of Education, July 9, 1875. Printed vellum paper, ca. 14" x 17", rolled. Ink entries and signatures. Engraved vignette illustration. Full text is in notes. PDF on file. Essentially a certificate of achievement or merit which could also be considered as a diploma, but it is not so marked. It does not state the school or grade, but one of the signatures is that of the "Teacher of German" so it is probable that it is seventh or eighth grade. John Frances Hildemann was a long-time Hoboken resident and related to the donors of this item. His wife: Margaret Hildemann; children: Louis, John, Arthur, Mae and Marguerite V.
