Notes: Archives 2014.070.0501 ==== R. NEUMANN & CO. FACTORY REGULATIONS STARTING & QUITTING 1. Enter and leave the factory only through the 333 Newark St. gate or the 300 Observer Highway door. 2. Punch your own time card IN and OUT. Never handle a time card belonging to someone else. Do not punch IN more than 1/2 hour before your starting time. Do not take your card from IN rack before assigned quitting time. 3. Report to your department in time to be READY TO BEGIN WORK at your assigned time. 4. Anyone reporting late to his department may be required to wait until the hour or half-hour before beginning work. 5. DEPARTMENT CLEAN-UP TIME and PERSONAL WASH-UP TIME will be regulated by the foreman in each department as the need warrants. SIGNALS 6. The 20 quick-ring signal will sound Monday through Friday at: 6:55 & 7:25 A.M................................... Warning 7:00 & 7:30 A.M................................... Starting 12:00 Noon ..................................... Lunch Period 12:55 P.M. .............................................. Warning 1:00 P.M................................................. Starting 4:00 & 4:30 P.M................... Dismissal FIRE SIGNALS — When the 20 quick-ring signal keeps sounding 60 or more quick rings, leave the premises promptly by the nearest exit. The ALL CLEAR signal after a FIRE signal is one ring followed by four quick-rings. A horn will sound in the area where a fire alarm box has been pulled. SAFETY 7. Never leave your machine running while you are away from it. 8. Report at once to your foreman any defective machinery or dangerous condition you may notice. 9. Report at once to your foreman all accidents or injuries, no matter how small. Unless you report injuries from work at the time they happen, you risk having to pay your own doctor's bill. 10. Machines are to be operated only by those authorized to do so. 11. Be alert at your work and do not take any unnecessary chances. Use the safety equipment (goggles, etc.) provided for specific jobs. 12. Be sure you know the location of the fire extinguishers in your work area. WASHROOMS 13. If you have to use the washroom during working hours, go to the one NEAREST to where you are working. ---- 14. You are warned against unnecessary or excessive use of washrooms during working hours. Attention is called to the Contract between R. Neumann & Co. and Local 34L, Article IV, in which employees pledge themselves TO AVOID WASTE OF TIME in the Company’s plant (see page 7). 15. Cooperate in keeping washrooms and locker rooms CLEAN. GENERAL 16. Keep your clothes in your locker, not at your work place. Keep your locker locked. If you lose the key, another one can be purchased at the Office. 17. Read the notices posted by the Timeclock for Federal and State work regulations, workmen’s compensation laws, etc. 18. No notices are to be posted, material distributed, or solicitations made on Company property without permission from the Office. 19. No one is permitted to smoke while working. During time-off, smoking is permitted only in specially designated places. 20. No personal telephone calls, except for emergencies, are to be made or received during your working time. 21. If unable to come to work, explain to your foreman in advance, or send in word to your foreman before 9:00 A.M. of the first day you are out. You may phone the Office between 8:30 and 9:00 A.M. (OLdfield 9-3400). 22. No Company equipment or material is to be taken from the factory for private use. If you take a package out, leave it open for the watchman’s inspection. 23. Every employee is expected to know and observe these Factory Regulations. Violators are subject to disciplinary action. NOTE: When you are absent from work, an honest, legitimate explanation is required. When such an explanation is not received before 9:00 A.M. of the first day of absence, your record is marked Absent Without Leave. Employees are particularly expected to be on the job immediately before and after a week-end, holiday and vacation. NOTE: Neumann employees are expected to conduct themselves at all times in a gentlemanly manner, showing consideration for the feelings and comfort of their fellow workers and all other people on the Neumann premises.
