Photograph
Color aerial photo of the former Maxwell House Coffee plant & The Shipyard residential developement, Hoboken, no date, circa 1998-1998. Digital inkjet print, 7-1/8" square image on 8-1/2" x 11" sheet. Photographer not indicated.
View is southwest and in the summer. At center is the 11 acre former factory site on the east side of Hudson Street from Eleventh to Twelfth Streets. These building were demolished in 2004.
The state of construction and conversion at The Shipyard residential development is seen to the right -
The Constitution (right edge) is present, but not finished as windows do not seem to be in place.
The area south of the Constitution where Shipyard Park will be placed is a construction staging area for the other buildings.
The Vanguard at the northeast corner of Twelfth and Hudson Streets appears to be finished.
The site of where the Independence will be located (north of Twelfth St. between Frank Sinatra Drive North and Shipyard Lane) is occupied by a parking lot on the west half and barren land on the east end with a few construction trailers present.
The Machine Shop (running north along Shipyard Lane from the Vanguard) has had the penthouse level added, but work seems to be in progress.
A wide swath of Hoboken is visible from Elysian Park and west.
See photo 2011.018.0005 for another aerial looking southeast of just the Maxwell House Coffee plant buildings.
