Air View of Tubes
[hand printed] Lincoln Tunnel
View looking North showing mouths of two tubes
Tube on right is only one in use now. These views also show how cars will swing around in quarter cloverleaf fashion and go westward through cut being built.
[end]
The curved ramp or access road when finished became known as the "helix."
The view shows the surrounding area in Weehawken and how the requirements for the ramp impacted the city. Interestingly, even though the tunnel was in use, there are no vehicles seen in this mid-day shot approaching or in the toll booths, in the plaza or either entering or exiting the tunnel.
