Bill’s gift is finding beauty in the mundane, from the scenes out of his second-floor window to a potted plant on a Hoboken stoop. He’s been very prolific this year and will share a series of paintings he created in 2020. In describing his approach to art, he says, “My paintings are inspired by color and shapes, seen on walks, or viewed through a window. Flowers are a favorite subject. The feeling of adding lush paint to a rough canvas is incomparable.”

Bill’s is a former art director and illustrator for the Lord & Taylor department store. His paintings have been featured several times in the Museum’s Upper Gallery, and he participates in the City’s Artists Studio Tour annually. He has also taught painting classes for students of all ages and experience levels at the Museum and other venues.

You can meet Bill most days at the Museum, where he is the main greeter and docent five days a week. He also hangs the exhibits in the Upper Gallery and serves in many other vital roles that keep the Museum humming. (He also worked at the Fire Department Museum on weekends before the pandemic.)

The Museum and its Upper Gallery are now open to a limited number of visitors during the Museum’s normal hours, as long as visitors wear masks, observe social distancing and take advantage of our sink or hand sanitizing stations.
