Chemist, artist, vegan, traveler. Andrea Kroenig grew up in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania and attended Albright College in nearby Reading to study Chemistry. It wasn’t until her senior year that she took an acrylic painting class and was hooked. After moving to Texas, finishing a Master’s degree in Chemistry at Texas A&M University then relocating to Indiana and Colorado, Andrea re-considered her career path and returned to the East Coast to follow her teenage dream in Cosmetic Chemistry and art interest. She worked at Mehron creating Halloween and special effects face-paint and at Revlon formulating eyeshadow and foundation makeup until starting to work for IFF in the fragrance industry.
Andrea moved to Hoboken 14 years ago and eventually set up her art studio at Monroe Center. She’s been involved with solo and group shows in Hoboken, Jersey City and Manhattan. Focusing on female portraits and women reacting to society and environment, her work typically involves experimenting with acrylic, charcoal, spray-paints, and, since Covid, magazine and newspaper collage.
When a skiing accident in 2019 ‘quarantined’ her for 4 months in Hoboken, she started a focused effort on discovering vegan food from local restaurants. Since the start of her ‘Hoboken Naturally’ Instagram in 2022, she’s eaten and posted vegan options from nearly 100 different eateries, options ranging from cauliflower pizza to red bean dessert soup.
Whoa, Chemistry, Fine Art, veganism..and what about the travel? Bring those stories and paintings. And what’s YOUR Hoboken story?
