Dr. Duroy was involved in the community as a Hoboken Housing Authority (HHA) Commissioner, Councilman, and Trustee on five different Education Boards throughout New Jersey. He also spearheaded the non-profit called Caparra Homes in the early 1980’s, which developed affordable housing for moderate and low-income families.

In retirement, Dr. Duroy wrote the book Befallen, which was based on the Hoboken fires from 1973-82. He is presently in the process of publishing a children’s book with his wife Santa, which is called My Backyard Friends.
