Hoboken Talks with Geri Fallo

March 9 @ 12:00 am

Please join us virtually on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 7pm when Geraldine (Geri) Fallo sits down with Jack Silbert for a special interview on Hoboken Talks.

Geri is a true daughter of Hoboken. Her paternal grandparents immigrated from Palermo, Sicily and settled in town. Her grandfather owned a candy store called Nunzio’s, which was located at 326 Madison Street, same building where her father Phil (who graduated from Demarest) and her Aunt Frieda grew up. Geri’s grandfather sold the storefront to Dolly Sinatra herself, who turned it into a social club.

Geri found her voice and developed her sense of identity as a strong woman creative. Seeing the great potential for art in community building, Geri got her start in Hoboken by launching the Projected Images of Hudson County in 1986, a local non-profit that showed independent films weekly at Maxwells and the Shannon Lounge for over 13 years.

Geri is the keeper of the flame – the embodiment of Hoboken’s artistic renaissance. She has been at the forefront of preserving Hoboken’s creative roots by serving as the Cultural Affairs Administrator for the City of Hoboken. In this position, Geri has been the chief organizer and visionary behind the Hoboken Artists’ Studio Tour, Hoboken Arts and Music Festivals, Concerts in the Park, the My Way Sinatra Sing-Off (a Museum favorite!), Holiday Banding, The Spaghetti Dinner Block Party, among other community events. One of our personal favorites was the Female Musicians that Rocked the 80s Hoboken Sound that she produced at Monty Hall in 2019 in celebration of Women’s History Month, which received funding from The New Jersey State Historical Commission.

Geri has left an indelible mark on Hoboken thanks to her organizing efforts over these past three decades. As she prepares to retire this spring, we have the opportunity to honor her tenure and extend our gratitude for her dedication and service. We cannot think of a better way to usher in Women’s History Month than by celebrating this cultural treasure!

Please join us on Thursday, March 14 for this very special livestream interview with Geri Fallo. Please note this event is held virtually on Facebook and YouTube.
