Hoboken Talks with Luigi Percontino

August 14, 2025 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Please join us virtually on Thursday, August 14 at 7pm when Luigi Percontino sits down with Bob Foster for our next episode of Hoboken Talks! This online program will be livestreamed on YouTube and Facebook.

Luigi Percontino was born in Monte San Giacomo, Italy and immigrated with his family at the age of 8 to São Paulo, Brazil. After living there for a short stint of 5 years, his family immigrated again and settled in Hoboken. Luigi has lived here since 1973 and loves his beloved city.

As an idealistic youth, the Hoboken reform movement captivated Luigi. He was taken under Mayor Vezzetti’s wing and joined his administration as a deputy court administrator in 1985. You can catch scenes of him campaigning with Mayor Vezzetti in Nora Jacobsen’s documentary DELIVERED VACANT. Luigi served the city for 31 years.

Luigi maintains his connection to his Italian roots through the Monte San Giacomo Club. He has served as president and is still an active member today.

Luigi’s family means the world to him. He has been married to his dear wife Michelle for 38 years. He is the proud father of Dawn, ToniAnn, Michael, and Enza, and grandfather to Michael, Alessandro, Carmine, Anna, and Elena.

From his love of soccer to volunteering for New York City Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, Luigi will have many stories to share! Please tune in on August 14th.
