Hoboken Talks with Milly-May McLaughlin and Gianni McLaughlin

Please join us virtually on Thursday, June 25th at 7 PM when Milly-May McLaughlin and Gianni McLaughlin sit down with Bob Foster for our next episode of Hoboken Talks!
Milly-May is a British-American writer, producer, and classically trained actor. Gianni studied filmmaking at the New York Film Academy and made his acting debut in the award winning series “Peaky Blinders.” Milly-May and Gianni met as cast members in an Off-Broadway show. They fell in love and got married within five months of knowing each other. Shortly after their marriage, they started a film production company, Paper Cinema.
In 2023, Gianni and Milly-May made their first feature film “Bless Me Father.” The film won 12 awards and was nominated for six others. The film made headlines in the press due to the way the McLaughlins funded the project. They had planned to have a destination wedding in Spain, but then the pandemic hit. The wedding was cancelled, and the money saved was used to fund their film.
This creative duo will be speaking about the innovative work of Paper Cinema, with a special focus on BEFALLEN, which marks Milly-May’s directorial debut. The film came together after she read the book Befallen by Dr. Edwin Duroy, and discovered the largely erased history of “gentrification by fire” in Hoboken during the 1970s and 1980s. Milly-May felt a responsibility to help bring this underrepresented story to the big screen.
Please tune in on June 25th!
