Please join us virtually on Thursday, March 5th at 7 PM for the season premiere of Hoboken Talks! In this episode, Richard Barone sits down with “Hoboken Jack” Silbert to discuss his prolific career.

About Richard Barone

Richard Barone pioneered the Hoboken indie rock scene as the frontman of The Bongos. He also helped launch the chamber pop movement with his solo debut, cool blue halo. Since then, he has produced numerous recordings across many musical genres.

Throughout his career, Barone has worked with legendary collaborators. This list includes producer Tony Visconti, Donovan, Lou Reed, and folk icon Pete Seeger. Furthermore, he has staged all-star concert events at prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, and SummerStage in Central Park.

Author and Educator

In addition to his music, Barone is an accomplished author. He wrote the memoir Frontman: Surviving The Rock Star Myth. His most recent book, Music + Revolution, celebrates the 1960s music scene in Greenwich Village.

Notably, Barone also shares his expertise through education and advocacy. He teaches “Music + Revolution” at The New School and has served on the Board of Governors for The Recording Academy (GRAMMYs). Currently, he hosts Folk Radio on WBAI New York and serves on the Advisory Board of Anthology Film Archives.
