Art Opening: “Reunion: Paintings by Laura Alexander”
Upper Gallery Art Opening: “Reunion: Paintings by Laura Alexander”
Laura Alexander returns for an encore exhibition at the Museum, bringing with her new paintings of old friends, such as the stylish Olivia, along with new paintings. This is Alexander’s third solo exhibition at the Hoboken Historical Museum, including “Portraits” in 2005 and “Mostly Rosemary” in 2012. Her work was also included in the Museum’s exhibition, “City Animals.”
A full-time artist who attended the Maine College of Art, the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, Vt., and the New York Art Students’ League, Alexander lives in Hoboken and works in her studio at Mana Contemporary in Jersey City. For many years, she had a studio at 720 Monroe St., when it was still known as the Levelor Factory. To learn more about her work, visit her website: www.lauraalexander.net.
Her work is exhibited frequently in New York and New Jersey, and occasionally internationally. She earned fellowships in 2006 and 2013 from New Jersey State Council on the Arts Fellowship for Painting, among other notable awards.
The exhibit will remain on view through July 8.
The exhibit is supported by a block grant from the State/County Partnership program for the Arts, administered by the Hudson County Division of Cultural and Heritage Affairs.
