DescriptionHill's Section Liner, (8 inch wood, 45-degree [equilateral] drawing triangle), model 1158-1/2, made by Keuffel & Esser Company, New York, no date, circa 1894-1920. Pearwood, 7-3/8" high x 1/8" thick. Blind stamped on long leg with K&E circular logo, product number and griffin trademark. Blind stamped patent date on bottom leg: Pat'd Dec. 18, '94. As depicted under "Section Liners" on page 158 of the 35th edition catalogue, 1915. It was one of three different ones shown and was the least expensive. Listed as "discontinued" in April 1920 revised price list for this catalogue. Typical use of this item was for drawing and drafting board work by many professions. Catalogue description: "The width of the spacing can be instantly adjusted by rotating the cam-shaped piece shown in the cut. A simple and reliable instrument." Keuffel & Esser Co. main office and factories were in Hoboken in the period when this item was made.
