Items have no K&E mark and except for the small plate, no other K&E mark such as being imprinted "Anvil" on a case flap as depicted in the catalog. The Anvil trademark line of instruments were drafting tools for non-professional users such as students as stated in the 37th edition catalog of 1927. They were identified as "Anvil" from the style seen in the catalog as "Square Type" for the joint found on the dividers and large compass. These were imported by K&E and made by the Ecco Co., Germany, as stamped on the tightening or adjustment screw knobs.
Keuffel & Esser Co. main office and factories were in Hoboken in the period when this item was made.
