Folding rule, model 7967, 72" long open, made by Keuffel & Esser Co. No date, ca. 1950-1960. Wood, painted, with brass tips and hinge hardware; white paint with black numerals and rule markings. Twelve sections, 5/8" wide x 3/32" thick. Closed: 7-5/8" long x 5/8" wide x 1-1/2" high. Manufacturer's name and stock number are in red paint on the exterior of the first section on each end.
Catalogue reference for this item was not available at time of cataloging. The product number has not been found in 42nd edition catalogues or earlier. The four numbers appear to be part of the numbering system used in the 1960s and later, but it lacks the two prefix digits. This product may have been part of the retail line that was in a separate catalogue. It overall size, thickness of the wood and general appearance seem indicate it was for lighter duty use than the K&E Gold Tip Heavy Duty 7965F folding rule, objects catalogue 2004.054.0013, which is similar.
K&E had their main office and factories in Hoboken when this item was made.
