Black faux leather vinyl plastic folding case, 8-1/8" wide x 2-7/8" high x 3/4" thick, with snap closures; imprinted on exterior top flap in dull gold; contents: 2 chrome plated instruments; tube with leads; screwdriver. Case is blind stamped on top edge, "Made in Germany", and instruments (7" dividers and pencil compass), "K&E Germany." The items were made under a military procurement contract for the U.S. Government, Department of Defense. What service branch or branches these instruments were intended for is not stated or been determined. The imprinting on case exterior: Navigator's Plotting Instrument Set. F S N [Federal Stock Number] 6675 286 0602 Keuffel & Esser Co. Contract No. DSA[Defense Supply Agency]-400-71-C-3389-1971 U.S. Keuffel & Esser Co. main office and factories were no longer in Hoboken when this item was issued, but it is a good example of the the longterm relationship with government and military procurement agencies.
