Stock certificate: Hoboken Ferry Company, No. A19, issued to William A. Nash for 8 shares of capital stock, $100 each, January 7, 1897; transferered to Calvert Brewer, Jan. 8, 1897; canceled. Certificate A19. Engraved printed paper in burnt orange and black, 7-1/4" high x 10-3/4" wide (left edge irregulaly trimmed; record stub not present.) Holographic entries and signatures, inkstamps, revenue stamps; perforation '8' and plus 17 cancellation hole punches in two different diameters.
Engraved vignette of the ferry boat Bergen.
Signed by the President, Ronald Aldridge (among others) and embossed with the corporate seal. The corporate seal states the company was incorporated in 1888. The central image is a steam ferryboat ( not the same one as used in the engraved vignette.)
Imprinted at right front edge: Issued for Property Purchased. Back has 4 Series of 1898 Documentary revenue stamps. Each has validation stamp of the United States Mortgage & Trust Co., April 28, 1899.
Cancellation inkstamp on front: Canceled May 3, 1899, Continental Trust Co. of the City of New York.
