DescriptionStock certificate of the Hoboken Ferry Company, No. A148, unregistered, canceled, from the 1890's. 7-1/4" high x 14-3/4" long with left fold-out; certificate only is 10-5/8" wide. Signed by the President, Ronald Aldridge (?) and embossed with the corporate seal. It is otherwise blank with no number of shares assigned, owner or counter signatures The central engraved vignette is the ferryboat "Bergen." A black-and-white image of the seal can be seen (it was done from the back and inverted, thus the printed type is reversed). It shows the company was incorporated in 1886. The central image is a steam ferryboat but not the same one as used in the engraved vignette.
