Object/Artifact
Davis OK Baking Powder. (6 ounces?) R. B. Davis Company, Hoboken, N.J., no date, circa 1925-1930. Metal can with slip lid, 2-7/8" diameter x 4-5/8" high. Embossed lid top: "Bake It Best with Davis Absolutely Pure"; bottom has a center dome with debossed 'star' at center. Original printed paper label, full height, present; stained and worn with some losses mostly at the top. Original contents not present. All text in English.
Content weight is unknown as that portion of the label is lost, but it was probably 6or 7 ounces.
Company name and address on front at bottom: R. B. Davis Co., Hoboken, N.J. (Company was located at 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 & 18 Jackson St., Hoboken).
This label style was introduced in the 1920s (a 'modern' design that persists in updated versions to 2010; note the 'OK' is greatly reduced in size) and while it did continue into the 1930s, the can type changed in the early 1930s to a pry-off lid rather than the slip lid present here.
