DescriptionTowle's Log Cabin Syrup. Made by General Foods Corporation, Hoboken, N.J. No date, circa 1950-1955. Lithographed metal container in the shape of a log cabin with screw cap; 3-5/8" wide x 2-1/2" deep x 4" high (includes cap.) Contents: 12 fluid ounces; original contents not present. Color printing is on the long sides, top and extends to the bottom seam. Ends are plain metal Front of can has the product name on a sheet nailed to the side of the "cabin." Back has a cartoon depiction of the front of the cabin with an open dutch door. A frontier man with rifle is returning home with his son who has a lariat. A daughter stands outside the door and the mother is seen standing in the cabin next to a cradle. This tin can was one of a series using this frontier theme. It is not labeled with series number or other marking stating its title. Apparently a collectible intended as a toy after the syrup was used. Company was originally the Log Cabin Products Division of General Foods. Hoboken is listed on the front of the can. Bottom has a code, P-6957-RL, imprinted in the artwork; not a processing or batch code. Product did not use "Maple" in its name. Ingredients are listed as: "Made of 85% Sugar and 15% Maple Sugar Syrups."
