Tootsie Fudge, Vanilla, 80 count. Made by The Sweets Company of America, Hoboken, N.J., no date, circa 1953-1960. Two -piece cardboard box with printed paper covered lid, 6" wide x 6-1/4" deep x 2-3/8" high. Original contents present.
Original contents, 79 of 80 pieces only, of vanilla fudge; each individually wrapped in clear cellophane, imprinted on top in red "Tootsie Fudge" (vanilla is stated only on the box, not on the wrapper) and wrapper on bottom side: Reg. U.S. Pat. Off., The Sweets Company of America, Inc., Hoboken, N.J., U.S.A.
Candy is 1-1/2" wide x 1-3/16" deep x 9/16" high. Note: only top layer of four viewed; almost all wrappers are intact, several pieces of candy are deteriorated and one is nearly gone.
Box lid has text on top addressed to "Mr. Retailer."
Box tray is imprinted on all 4 side panels: Tootsie Fudge 2¢. Company name and location is only printed on the two longer sides. Tray was intended for counter or case display.
The Sweets Co. made Tootsie Rolls, Pops and related products in Hoboken at this time.
