Photograph
Sepia-tone photo of the exterior of the Newark & Washington St. frontage for the Fabian Theatre, southeast corner of Newark & Washington Sts., Hoboken, no date, ca. April 15-25, 1928. 5" x 7" wide print. Photographer not known. Reverse is blank.
Not numbered and dated in image. The elevated view probably from Hoboken City Hall is looking southeast. The rear of buildings on Hudson Street can be seen with the Terminal Building at the center. Exterior brickwork is nearing completion. Note the iron brackets in place on the Washington Street side for balcony fire escape stairs. Also note the basic framing for the marquee and the signs. Compare with photo 2003.052.0041, dated April 30, 1928,where the completed fire escapes can be seen, the marquee has more detail, and the signs above the marquee are new.
The north face of the Hotel Victor at the northeast corner of Hudson Place (Ferry St.) and Hudson Street can be seen: there is a painted sign for the Lyric Theatre.
