Bent dark brown leather case with raised lettering; 1/4" steel tape (blackened) in 12ths of feet (inches in 16ths.) Case 2-3/4" diameter x 1/2" thick; folding crank handle; length stamped on crank face (closed): "50"; stamped on crank (open with handle): "Pat. Applied For". Back crank well has patent dates: 1886, 1902.
Model number 7272T (number does not appear on object; as listed in 36th edition catalog, 1921.)
Tape marked: K&E Trade Mark.
A pocket tape measure made by K&E whose main office and factory were in Hoboken.
