Photos taken by Caroline Carlson Redden. See related. The two images represent before and after views of the restoration efforts of a program called Project Rehab. The area is lot just north on Willow Avenue of the Willow View Estates, an apartment building that was restored at this time. The left view is of the backyard of these apartment buildings with telephone poles and clothes lines in view. The right image is the same area with improvements. The view is looking northwest of a lot next to the church building (at right in both photos) at the southeast corner of Willow Avenue and Thirteenth Street. In the top photo, some boys are playing baseball on the empty, unimproved lot. The bottom photo shows the same viewpoint after playground equipment has been installed and children are seen playing on them. In the background is an A & P Supermarket. (The church was, in 1925-26, the Norwegian Evangelical Free Church. As of the late 1980's, it was renovated and became the offices of architect Dean Marchetto's firm.)
