Menu sign board: Flavors of Ice Cream; from Schnackenberg's Luncheonette, 1110 Washington Street, Hoboken, circa 1932 to 2012.
This item was in use at the restaurant from circa early 1930s until it closed under the original ownership in September of 2012 (it was renovated by new operators and re-opened under the same name in 2014.) Last placement was on the north wall above the fountain counter service area near the front of the establishment (see reference images for location.)
Schnackenberg's was founded in 1931 and Henry Schnackenberg was a confectioner as well as ice cream maker. He is known to have made ice cream in the basement from as early as 1932 (see archives 2011.024.0020 for an image of his 1932 license) and thus this sign may have been among the earliest ones used in the shop.
