Article by Vincent J. Modero about life in 1941. He describes two photos which are printed.
Left photo: Corner of First and Clinton Streets in 1941. Mentions Herman's Housewares. (View is apparently to the southwest.) He mentions the other two corners not seen: defunct Jefferson Trust Company and Modero & Sons [author's family business], fruits and vegetables, established in 1923.)
Right photo: First Street and Willow Avenue in 1941 looking east on First towards Washington St. and City Hall. At the right, which was the southwest corner, in a low building was the Paap Studio on the first floor and Cilento's Grocery Store. Also mentioned on other corners were Gualario's Bar and Bernie's Dry Goods Shop.
