Auctioneer was Adrian H. Muller of P.R. Wilkins & Co. of New York. Auction was to be held at 111 Broadway, N.Y.
Street plan shows the property on west side of Hudson Street between First and Second Streets, Nos. 65-66 (old street numbers). It was a three-story brownstone house built in 1860 at a cost of $27,500 by the late John Shotwell for his own use; the architect was Thomas R. Jackson. Stable is shown for the house as on the west side of Court Street. Recently painted and redecorated by Woodward & Pierce. The auction was necessary "as the present owner is about leaving for Europe."
