Photograph
Digital image of sepia-tone photo of Lisbet Toepfer (left) and a woman named Amelia at 2nd & Bloomfield Streets, Hoboken, September 1921. Original image 4-7/8" wide x 3-3/16" high. Photographer not identified. Reverse is blank except for photo processor's number: B12. Front has contemporary holographic ink notes in left and bottom margins with one on the image at the top.
From the left margin continuing to the bottom margin: Mother & Amelia | The block in which we live, Sept. 1921. This use of "Mother" would indicate that the notes were probably made by daughter Leonore Muller nee Toepfer, wife of John R. Muller. At the top is "our home" with an arrow indicating a building on the left side of the block. From an enclosed post-it style note, it is identified as107 Bloomfield St (the home of the John R. Muller family.) The same note identifies the older woman as "great grandma" This would have been Roger Muller's relationship to her. No other information about Amelia is given.
The view is looking south on Bloomfield from the northwest corner of Second and Bloomfield Streets. In the right background on the southwest corner appears to be an automobile service business with tires in the window and partially legible signage: Retreading; Carbon Removed. Name of the business is not known.
