Pinellas Bar was converted to Hardware Store. There was a Tailor Shop behind the Hardware Store. Where Bob had a Fruit Store was: 1. Costello Music Store ( 1925 ) 2. Rosenburg Shoe Shop 3. Del Guidice Grocery Store 4. Carlos Pastry 5. Corbisiero Pastry 6. Antonio Pastry I was in the store when Mrs. Antonio, mother of Eddie, received a Letter and Telegram from the Government reading "Your Son Was Killed in Action". This was a trying moment for me. Eddie was a very intelligent person, very studious and spoke five different languages. EDDIE, MAY GOD BLESS THE GROUND WHERE YOU ARE RESTING.(I lost a Very Good and True Friend). Candy Store 421 ADAMS STREET Private - Fish Store, Property of Mike Delle Fave 423 ADAMS STREET Pizzino Grocery Store Warehouse Pelligrino Bar Rex Bar In 1925 two stores were built when they tore down the warehouse. Then there was Festa Fruit Store, Quaglieri Grocery and Dry Goods Store, Joe Palermo Stationery & Shoe Shine Store. There were many shoe shine stores or places to have our shoes shined and looking clean and neat. [End page] -4- 400 ADAMS STREET Sam - The Spot Bar Capelli's Bar and Restaurant Turso's Bar which is now Called Michael's Bar & Restaurant. 402 ADAMS STREET Empty lot now which was once the Home of Montefort Dry Goods Store. 404 - 406 - 408 ADAMS STREET These were all Private Homes. 410 ADAMS STREET Private Home also a Stationery Store. 412 ADAMS STREET Carlos's Pastry Shop which is now owned by Buddy & Mary and since have five Children. 414 ADAMS STREET Fiore's Delicatessen Store where the famous Mozzarelle is owned by John and have people from all nearby Cities come to buy all this delicious Mozzarelle and other Italian Cold Cuts. 416 ADAMS STREET Once was the Home of Emanuel Battaglia, - Now an Empty Lot, which is Fiore's Parking Lot. 418 ADAMS STREET Home of Pepe Boss - Joey Nickey Store Rentedto I.L.A. For Meetings, Now this same Store is rented by MSS. DI MONTE VERGINE. In 1942, this same Store was rented to Mike The Butcher. [End page] -5- 420 ADAMS STREET 1924 Skelly's Restaurant started in the basement, then moved upstairs. Skelly's nephew Joey, the Policeman, rented the apartment above the Restaurant. Skelly, Pepe and Jack had the finest food in town. Pepe is now in a Nursing Home. TO Skelly & Jack, If there is a Heaven, I know you are both up there. [End page] -6- 400 JEFFERSON STREET - Corner Store Rented By Mr. Irvelino, Then He moved To The Rear Of the Store, Up the Stoop. The Front Of The Store was then Rented By Joe Lisa, 1950. 4th Street Entrance was a Candy Store, The Son was Tony Petrillo Singer, known as Val-Valente. Mr Irvelino as an Insurance Agent Going towards Madison Street was Bartletta Hall. P/S Frank, If your name was on the Ballot, You always got my Mr. and Mrs. Vote. Across the Street South/West Corner was the Cigaret Factory. 402 JEFFERSON STREET Mr. & Mrs. Policastro - Candy Store In Basement. Murray Pasquale Once Lived There. 404 JEFFERSON STREET Club In Rear Yard Called Madison A.C. You Had To Walk Thru an Alley (1921). Minervini Was not There. 406 JEFFERSON STREET Private Home Owned By a German Woman. [End page] -7- 408 JEFFERSON STREET Before Minervini ( 1921 ).A Factory was at this address making Radio Tubes. 4th & JEFFERSON STREET TROY'S CLUB Before 1919 Mike Costello Had a Saloon. When He Decided To Give Up the Saloon, He sold it to the Mother And Father of the famous singer Frank Sinatra. When They Gave Up This Saloon, it became a store For Selling Supplies For A Machine Company. Then a Bakery. The Property was bought by Mr. La Barbiera. Behind La Barbiera was a private home. Corner of 4th And Adams Street 332 Was Jodice Bar & Grill With A Side Entrance in the Rear. Then it Became D'Agostino Funeral Home. 410 JEFFERSON STREET Private Home Owned by Brizz Family. 412 JEFFERSON STREET This was Owned By The Veloce Family, Pizzeria Restaurant Rose And Jimmy. 414 JEFFERSON STREET Private Home Owned By Mrs. Grossi. These 3 Wonderful Families Could Never Be Replaced. [End page] -8- 416 JEFFERSON STREET HERE WAS A DELICATESSEN. Pepi, The Shoemaker next to Lunato, Fruit Store (1924). Johnny Pepi, Son Of The Shoemaker,a hired Guitarist for Weddings. Pepino, Shoemaker started in the Basement of 514 Jefferson Street, then moved to 416 Jefferson Street. 418 JEFFERSON STREET House in Rear of Lunado Fruit Store. The obvious thing was a Big Tree on the Sidewalk. 420 JEFFERSON STREET At This Address was the Oxford Club, Also Angelo's Grocery Store and 3rd. Ward Democratic Club. 422 JEFFERSON STREET CORNER On this property was a Restaurant. There was a Stable called "THE BARN" To Rest Horses, Going to 5th and Madison Street. There was also Frank, The Butcher and Jimmie's Shoe Store In 1938, There was a Club, Tailor Shop, Shoe Maker, Francisco's Fruit Store and on the Corner was also a Butcher. [End page] -9- 500 ADAMS STREET 1. Saloon 2. Carollo's Drug Store 3. Steneck Bank 4. Caporino' Stationery Store 5. Cervelli's Grocery Store Among the Tenants were Striano Family, Lambiase Family, Grecco Family Carbone Family and Venezia Family. Above the Store was a Hall named Costello Hall, where numerous parties were held. This was later called The Oxford Hall. The First Couple to Marry was John Pascale and Jenny Tarantula (1910) Underneath the Hall was Jake The Jew Stationery Store 1917. Along was Vettoso ( Tuddy ) Mother and Father's Fruit Store and next to them was a Barber Shop by the name of Tony The Barber. Also, was Trappani's Jewelry Store. [holographic note on leaf: John Pasquale + Jenny Tarantula is Chuck's Mother & Father.] 500 - 502 - 504 ADAMS STREET Sadie's Dry Goods Store Red The Butcher Neil's Grandfather and Grandmother had a Fruit Store, where everyone chatted. 506-508 ADAMS STREET Vincent and Teresa Fabrucino Pastry Shop was sold to Emil, then sold to people from New York, then to Giro. Benjamin Graziano, Butcher, then sold to Red The Butcher. Red The Butcher originally started at 508 Adams Street. 510 ADAMS STREET Naddeo started and moved to 522 Adams Street. Eddie Argenziano Hardware and John The Barber. [End page] -10- 512 ADAMS STREET Joe Rosenburg, Candy Store, Fruit Store, Then moved and replaced by Barber Shop. 514 ADAMS STREET Aurigemma Fruit Store, Yacullo mother Dry Goods Store then Landy's parlor. 516 ADAMS STREET_ De Vincenzo Saloon with Hall in the rear. He closed the Front of the store and moved to the rear and made a Shoe Store called Sandy's. Also, Spinelli Funeral Parlor. 518 ADAMS STREET Francisco Bakery then La Barbiera Bakery, Then Al Jordan, Then Willie Sauna then to Giquanto. 520 ADAMS STREET Tex Corrado Home, Slim Fortunato lived here. The Store was Danny's Bar with a Dance Hall. 522 ADAMS STREET Naddeo Hardware Store which is now owned and operated by Joe Capporino. [End page] -11- 524 ADAMS STREET This is a private House. The tenants in this house were Mother and Father of Chickie and Mike Spina, Stamp with The Bad Leg and Joe the Shiek, also Boot Black in the basement. 526 ADAMS STREET Parents of Jimmie Russo Fruit and Vegetable Store, Property of the Sansevere Family. Jimmie was a Fast and Classy Boxer. 528 ADAMS STREET Curly Corrado Bar & Grill ( 1934 ) and now owned and operated by Joe Capporino Stationery Store. 530 ADAMS STREET Mike Curci Property sold various kinds of Nuts. Then sold to Chippie's mother where she had a candy store and also many people did home work on Beads. 532 ADAMS STREET Henny Parisio, known as Cockeye Henny's Pool Parlor and Club. 534 ADAMS STREET_ Spina's Bar & Grill. Greatest Hunter in the State, now Tony's Finizio Grocery Store. [End page] -12- 6th. & JEFFERSON STREETS Corner - Joe The Sheik (1930) Hat Cleaning Boot Black & Shoe Shine 2nd. Store Martella Fruit Store 3rd. Store - Waco Club Across The Street - Corner - Mancusi Drug Store (1930) Lewis Churches Trench Rose & Frank Lia (Mayor) Now is John Pitera's Jewelry Store, in Basement North West Corner 600 ADAMS STREET Bar & Grill (1931) D'Antonio Pastry Shop Zitani Drug Store Pinizio Butcher & Grocery Store 6th & ADAMS STREET North East Corner Dorman Grocery, Then Sold to Patty Russo Grocery Store behind Patty Russo D'Antonio Pastry Store moved from Corner to middle of the block between Adams and Grand Streets. Failla Funeral Parlor Bar with Bocci Alley-This was a Good Sport 1940 Archangelo Owned this House Corrado Geiedno Dry Goods Store 504 JEFFERSON STREET Bencevenga Family owner 1910-1918 Mother & Father had 13 children EQUALS 15 People in four rooms Calabrese Family Tony & Virginia Marano Family Borelli Family Matty-The-Ox Sometime called him "The Bull" lived at 504 Jefferson Street. A Store at this address was owned by ERNESTO PASTRY SHOP Migaleen -sister of Mrs. Finizio, Fruit Store Mike Guglielmelli Ice Cream Parlor (1922). [End page] -16- 506 JEFFERSON STREET Little Mike The Fireman was the First Owner. Then was bought by the Yaccarino Family. Mother Yaccarino was Married from 513 Jefferson Street, which was owned by The Liquori's. John Yaccarino was born at 513 Jefferson Street. Store was operated by Del Guidice, a Grocery Store Butcher Chicken Store Bar - Biggie's Clam Bar Restaurant 508 JEFFERSON STREET Rose Petrillo Family - George Petrillo Family LULU Mike and Kate Lombardy Family Fusco Family DeSomma Family Candy Store was owned By Rose's Mother & Father, Property is NOW owned by Mr. & Mrs. E. Presti. 510 JEFFERSON STREET Borelli House - Pasquales, MURRY [Murray Pasquale] was born at 510 Jefferson Street. Yorka Ann Ninzie Rose and Babe "Jimmie Carter" 60 Years ago a baker by the name of Asunda had the Stable in the rear. Then Joe Borelli had it. Mike La Bruno was the Baker. Later the Stable was converted to a Wine Cellar by the Uncle. Whether we liked it or not we had to smash the Grapes with our BARE FEET. He made sure we washed our feet first. There were many cuts and bruises which was the talk of the town. There were no machines. Everything was done by hand and our own two feet. Believe me, the Wine was the best to be had and tasted good. Tenants were John Pasquale Family Calabrese Family Russo Family Victoria Family Rottina Family Cicero Family Elizabeth's Father had Eight or Nine Goats. He would take them to the hills to eat grass and bring them back at night. Henny and Willy's Wine Cellar. Then a Candy Store by Nunzie. 514 JEFFERSON STREET Cappiello Family were 12 People in the Family, who lived in a Three Room Apartment. Harotta Family were 10 People in this, Family, who also lived in a Three Room Apartment Tronolone Family and Russo Family were other tenants who lived at this address. P/S 22 People on the Second Floor, Toilets in the Hall No WALL to WALL GOD BLESS OUR PARENTS. MUCH PATIENCE WAS NEEDED. 516 JEFFERSON STREET Del Monaco Family Di Geico Family Tessie Frizzy ( 70 Years of Age) Now owned by Tessie Frabasile. [End page] -18- 518 JEFFERSON STREET This House was moved from Jackson Street to 518 Jefferson Street Rose Marotta lived upstairs, Also Garibaldi Saloon John & Apicella Bar Tinsmith Society Club 520 JEFFERSON STREET De Stefano Family Truglios Family Mariners Family Salinas Family Mike The Duke's Sister Mike The Longshoreman Store Mike's Candy Store Petrillo's Bakery Paddy's Tailor Charlies's Candy Store with Ice Cream Bier's Bakery 522 JEFFERSON STREET DE Stefano Property was a Store, Barber Shop By Pepe Mikey La Bruno wife's Family, Grace Palmeri and the Vitale Family. 524 JEFFERSON STREET Shultz Hardware Bar Ice Cream Parlor Brother Babe Lived Upstairs 526 JEFFERSON STREET Mike Costello Building Contractors. This Contractor built 516 Jefferson Street and Carmine Pasquale Insurance Agency was also at this Address. [End page] -19- 528 JEFFERSON STREET Sammy Lisa's house. Before the Store Barber Shop Candy Store 530 JEFFERSON STREET Before Jefferson Hall was built, there was a Saloon and Grocery Store. Tube Brothers, Then Jefferson Hall was owned by Chuck Vernaglia. The Tenants were CheCha Pepe and Lena Valentino. Across the Street on the North West Corner was Sam and Pete Lisa Garage Repair, Eastern Transfer Company. [End page] -20- 501 JEFFERSON STREET - Corner 1910 -1917 (1.) Rinaldi and Finizio Tavern sold to Patsy Pinella (2.) Home Made Macaroni Shop (3.) Valentino Shoe Store Owner Died. This was then sold to Mr. Giangleano Then a Grocery Store Lazzaro Valente Brother Shoey's Father was the Shoemaker 501 JEFFERSON STREET 1918 to 1950 This building was owned by Mr. & Mrs. Calabrese On the Corner Store was Carollos Drug Store, Later Mancusi Drug Store. There was also Patsy the Shoemaker and Calabrese Fruit Store. Later on it became Mary The Florist Trapani Jewelry Store. One night a mother put her baby to bed, along the side of the Window, of course, at this time window screens were not too secure, the Baby rolled out of the window, three Stories High. D.O.A. 503 JEFFERSON STREET Basement ( 1930 ) Napolitani's Pizza Pie where Big Neal was a Waiter Another Candy Store and Joe's Coffee Shop. There was also Nunzie's Fruit Store Tenants were Pantoliano Family Pascale Family Orlando Family Mosca owned 505 - A Cousin, owned 503, then sold to Mosco and bought from Naporano. [End page] -21- 505 JEFFERSON STREET 503 and 505 were both apartment buildings with stores in the Basement where many business took place, as explained in the previous paragraph. At this basement in 1935 was a Bar with two Big White Dogs. Tenants were Cuozzo Family ( Phil and His Sister ( Bob Steel Family ( Jenny Marbles Sister ( DOMINICK MIELE Sam Liguori ( POOL ROOM 1930 Gangolano Family ( 507 JEFFERSON STREET This was a Private Home. There was a House in the Rear of this Property, which included Leo Magente and His Brother, Gimmie my Dollar Back, Louise A Giant Fan Rooter and Anthony. ( This was a very Fine Family). 509 JEFFERSON_STREET This has been a vacant lot for years. 511 JEFFERSON STREET_ Petrillo House, Another House in the Rear, which was used for Keeping Trucks to Cart Fruit in the Markets. Then the House was moved to the Fron., It was then renovated and Rented by Cowboy for a Restaurant. The Home of Judge Carson The House now belongs to Mario Raggio Butcher Shop. The same store was Rented by Failla Funeral Home. [End page] -22- 513 JEFFERSON STREET This was the Home of Hr. & Mrs. Liguori. There was a Paper Mill and Warehouse next Door. Tenants were Tony Pontillo, The Ice Man Rossi & Hattie Liguori Mike Romano, Musto Family Philomena's Husband I Can Recall Before The Paper Mill, The Empty Lot where We Played Marbles, I Could Still See My Mother Calling me For Supper ( MAY GOD BLESS HER ) 515 JEFFERSON STREET HERE WAS A GARAGE 517 JEFFERSON STREET HERE WAS THE PAPER Mill 519 JEFFERSON STREET Rossario Miele House, The Sausage Maker At this Time We Paid 35 cents a Pound Upstairs Lived Frank and Caroline D'Lorenzo, The Parents of Jessie Frabasile.
