Scope and ContentReceipt book for transfer certificates of inn, tavern and liquor licenses, City Clerk's Office, City of Hoboken, July 2, 1910 - June 26, 1913. Numbers 1-200 plus seven attached certicates returned and refunded. Disbound. Circa 5-5/8" wide x 6-1/4" high x ca. 1-3/8" thick; certificates are 8-1/4" wide unfolded. Each receipt was "For the transfer of license to keep an Inn or Tavern, or to sell spiritous, vinous, malt or brewed liquors in quantities less than one quart..." Each receipt has a receipt number (press numbered), issue date (ink stamped), to whom the license was being transferred and from whom, the address, date license was due and license expiration date. Fee amount was $27.00. The right edge was perforated where the issued transfer certificate was previously attached. Names are of individuals, not businesses. The seven certificates enclosed had the fee refunded per the instructions on the certificates; if the license was not granted to the transferee, then the Board of Excise Commissioners would direct the refunding of the money. Each of them notes the City Council action taken.
