Bound ledger ca. 14" high x 19" wide x 1-1/4" thick with custom printed columnar form leaves (railroad's "Form 64A"); 100 leaves (200 pages.) Entries, pencil and ink, by one month per division (a specific route such as "Hoboken - 33rd St." or "Branch Service.") Data was then recorded on it by date for the number of trains, total number of cars and monthly totals. It does not record times such as departure, arrival or length of trip. It does not include any financial information. It does make note of "misc." which may include work trains or receipt collection cars. It also does not state where this information was tallied. Remarks at the bottom of leaves include schedule notes and changes because of holidays, derailments, a suicide or special trains such as one for returnees from a Jewish conference. Binding is a canvas cover over boards; red leather label with gilt lettering on front board (ca. 3-1/2" x 8" wide.) Cover title is" H.&M. R.R. Co. - Train Record. Sheets measure 13-3/8" high x 18" wide. Archives 2008.012.0071 to .0073 are a group of H&M train records with various dates (some overlapping), cover titles and contents.
