War Ration Book No. 3 (marked in ink "Book 4".) Three books issued to the Becker family , 207 Garden St., Hoboken, 1943 or possibly 1944. (Issue date is not stated; back has Government Printing Office date.) Booklet with printed covers, 4-1/4" high x 5-3/4" wide; contents is printed sheets of coupons on security paper numbered 1 to 48 ("Ration Stamp No. x" - they were called stamps, but they are ungummed ) with perforated edges. Some sheets are full and some are partially used, varying by owner; appears to have been six sheets originally, the most that are still present in these books is 4 sheets. No staples used.
Issued in World War II by the Office of Price Administration, a U.S. Government agency (OPA Form R-130.) U.S. Government Printing Office date of 1943 on back cover which is the only date appearing on them.
Cover of each records the name and address of the person it was issued to along with age, sex, weight, height and occupation.
Serial no. 265447: Arthur E[mil]. Becker, 207 Garden St., Hoboken, age 40, occupation - warehouseman. (This book has four sheets of mostly used coupons from a previous ration book in the same sixe format, but with a different printed content.)
Serial no. 265448: Mary Becker, same address, age 34, occupation - housewife.
Serial no. 265449: Dorothy Becker, same address, age 14, occupation - school work.
All of the books are marked "Book 4" as noted at the bottom of the front cover.
