Kostelecky purchased a suite of bedroom furniture (1 dresser & mirror; 1 chest; 1 bed; 2 nightstands) plus two lamps & shades for a total of $640. The book lists the items and the payments made. This item is a typical example of how time payments for expensive items were done before credit cards and similar forms of payment became regularly available.
